Big Cats

A couple of watercolor and digital art mixed technique illustrations.

I did illustrations from Korkeasaari Zoo’s wild cats for a change from fashion illustration women. Tiger has been done already over month earlier and that’s why it’s different. The artwork from leopard have been done today. I used Photoshop in addition to watercolors.

Steam Hellsinki

Steam Hellsinki is a first restaurant in Helsinki what is decorated in steampunk style.

Steampunk is subgenre of science fiction inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. I was immediately interested as I heard about new nightclub in Kamppi, what is decorated in steampunk style and went see how it looks. It was really fine and every corner and detail of the restaurant was thought carefully. I recommend to go see and experience the restaurant by yourself!

I have visited dozens of times in Kiasma museum of contemporary art, but this time I took photos from exhibitions.

I went to Kiasma to see photographer Robert Mapplethorpe’s exhibition, but there was also three other exhibitions, Ismo Kajander Anartist, Face To Face and Elements. Photo above is from Elements exhibition, Mariele Neudecker’s Think of One Thing, 2002. I took artistic photo from the artwork, because the mirrors and glass made it possible.

Robert Mapplethorpe

In the American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe’s (1946–1989) retrospective exhibition were more than 250 works. He lived a life of passion in the New York underground and rock scenes in the 1970s and ‘80s. His photos are mainly quite small black and white prints of famous people like Patti Smith, Andy Warhol and many many more. There was also a couple of color photographs from flowers.

Architecture of Kiasma

Kiasma has been built in 1998 and it is one of the landmarks in the streetview in the central of Helsinki. Kiasma was designed by the American architect Steven Holl. In the ground floor of Kiasma is also Kiasma theatre, where is varying theatre plays, films and other events.

Jorma Puranen

In Face To Face exhibition was set of the three works with name Museum Meditations 1, (Gerda, Ester and Irina). The techinque of the artwork is digital C-print, Diasec. Works reminded me somehow Helene Schjerfbeck’s portraits and at the same time they had strong gothic and punk vibe. I liked them a lot.

In photo above is Mario Merz’s Untitled (Igloo) from Elements exhibition. You can see all photos I took from the museum here:
